Heavy Equipment Operators (HEO) Course

The Heavy Equipment Operators (HEO) Course offers a large range of options.

You can choose to customize your packages by deciding what machines will be used in the training, and from a wide range of tasks to suit the infrastructure improvements in your community.

The students will leave the training ready to work within the community, in local mines, or with private companies that require qualified staff.

Community equipment will be utilized throughout the training; this enables all students to familiarize themselves with the community and reduces costs associated with equipment rentals and logistics. Rentals may be available on request depending on location.

Training

The training is 4-12 weeks long based on the number of students and machinery available. If selected, we can cover winter and summer operations.

In Class

The range of tasks is challenging and progressive. We start with the basics and then move into more completed operation tasks as the course progresses.

There is a 1.5 week classroom portion which focuses on workplace safety, personal safety, environmental and equipment safety, and equipment theory.

Hands On

Once the classroom portion is finished, the students will complete round robin training on the equipment selected.

We have the ability to instruct on up to 7 pieces of equipment at a time, and the student-to-instructor ratio never exceeds 4:1; this allows for the instructors to work with the students to develop good work habits, learn how to complete a variety of different tasks, and focus on production.

All training is OH&S compliant and will be customized to reflect the province's or territory’s policies. WHMIS and First Aid can be added to the training with a small additional cost. Train the Trainer is available on request.
