Chainsaw Operation Course

Fossil Creek Industrial Training provides Chainsaw Safety and Operations training. This training is designed as an entry to intermediate level operations with a strong focus on the safety aspects of chainsaw work. This course will introduce the student to industry standards, codes of practice and safe work procedures while working with or around chainsaw operators

The theory portion of the course is broken into one day of classroom training and two days in the field for practical training. Each day has a test to identify the proficiency levels of each participant.

Levels of Proficiency 

Basic Awareness

  • Theoretical Understanding of Safety and Method Management

  • Chainsaw Maintenance 

  • Refueling and Refueling Requirements

  • Does not include starting or operating a chainsaw

Processing (Bucking and Delimbing)

  • Includes Basic Awareness

  • Safe Chainsaw Handling and Operations

  • Processing: Delimbing and Bucking Techniques and Procedures

  • Establishing General Proficiency with the Chainsaw

Faller

  • Includes Basic Awareness

  • Includes Processing

  • Demonstrate General Proficiency and Safety 

  • Safely Fall a Tree Under Supervision of an Instructor 

  • Working With and Around Dangerous Trees

Course Duration

  • In-Class Training – 1 day (approximately)

  • Field Training – 2 days (approximately)
